SUMMARY:Steven Osborne, piano
DESCRIPTION:Steven Osborne is a truly exceptional performer, about whom The Daily Telegraph wrote in 2016: “Some pianists gild everything they touch with their own personality; some are like chameleons, finding a new colour for each composer. Last night the wonderful Scottish pianist Steven Osborne did both, which lent the whole evening a miraculous air… every note seemed to vibrate with intelligence”. Franz Schubert Impromptu, D935 no.1George Crumb ProcessionalClaude Debussy Images oubliées; Mazurka; 2 Arabesques; Valse; Élégie ; Pièce pour le Vêtement du blessé; Les soirs illuminés  par l’ardeur du charbon; La Cathédrale engloutieBeethoven Sonata no.32 in C minor, op.111Please note change to the previously advertised information. With huge regret, in late-June Angela Hewitt reluctantly concluded that international travel and quarantine requirements are simply too uncertain and that she would no longer be able to make the trip from Italy for this year’s Festival. We are grateful to Steven Osborne for generously agreeing to perform today.
