Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror
Enter into the spirit of Halloween with a screening of FM Murnau’s remarkable German Expressionist silent film, Nosferatu.
The impact of this extraordinary and genre-defining vampire film from 1922 is made still greater by the anti-Semitic stereotypes it portrays, from a time when Germany was sliding towards real-life horrors on an unprecedented scale.
The film’s sense of drama will be heightened further by live improvisations on the Cathedral’s organ, performed by students from the Royal Academy of Music directed by Professor Franz Danksagmüller, with additional sound design provided by live electronics.
A special event presented with the St Albans Film Festival and St Albans Cathedral.
