Introduction, Toccata and Fugue
The appointment William Fox as Director of Music at St Albans Cathedral was announced in February 2024. He was previously Assistant Director of Music at St Paul’s Cathedral.
Having begun his musical career as a chorister at York Minster, William went on to be an organ Scholar at Magdalen College, Oxford, from where he graduated with a first-class degree in Music. Previously, he held Organ Scholarships at Hereford Cathedral, and at Wells Cathedral while at school. William is a prize-winning fellow of the Royal College of Organists, and until recently was a Junior Fellow of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. William is active as an organ recitalist in the UK and abroad, and his playing has been broadcast on BBC Radio and television. In 2022, William played the organ at the National Service of Thanksgiving for the Platinum Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth II and at the National Service of Prayer and Reflection the day following her death; both services were broadcast to millions around the world.
The St Albans International Organ Festival presents monthly International Concerts on Saturdays throughout the year.
